The Unbeatable Backup Efficiency And Useful Life Of Sony AIT 2 ...

Here at Odsi we're more than a competitive online reseller of brand name tape media. We focus on all of the things that are of interest to our customers, not only in saving you money but also in saving you time.

View all articles by Mark Paul What comes to your mind when you think of a data backup? The answer to this might be a lot of spare time, some expertise for backup mediums and some extra money. This is no longer true in the advanced world of today where there are numerous mediums providing for the purpose of backups. This is an important concept in the world today where every individual uses the computer for work as well as entertainment and data losses have been encountered by many and have always proven to be very heart wrenching. This can be a bit tolerable for individuals who have only lost a few music files and pictures but think about the data loss for a huge company.

I am sure this definitely sounds like a huge disaster, and it is. In today?s corporate world, all businesses have chosen o rely on the computer systems for their survival and it is always to be kept in mind that these computer systems are after all only machines and can break down at any time. The hard drives of the computers especially are thing which we all have relied on but they do seem to fail us at times. At one point in life, the hard drive will flip over and do something bad to you. To protect data from any such accidents, a regular backup routine should be followed by all businesses.
?
I am sure there are still many out there who haven?t considered the option of backups yet. It doesn?t matter how large or small a business is, it always takes time and some human force to put the systems back into shape. Huge organizations who work on computer systems and have valuable sets of information stored on their computer systems always have a backup.

This is because they need to be sure at all times that their data is secure. With the data backups gaining so much popularity, the manufacturers of computer related products have started focusing on the development of new and improved backup systems. The most efficient way of backing up data today is surely via using the tape drives. The new AIT-2 turbo technology proves it true that Sony has the best products to offer to its customers.

The Sony AIT-2 turbo tape is the improved version of the previous AIT Sony tape and provides a better backup experience. Tape drives allow one to read and write data which is stored on the magnetic tape. They are fairly easy to use and can be very flexible. They can either be used as internal drives stored inside the computers or they can also be used as external backup mediums.

The Sony AIT-2 turbo tape has a native storage capacity of about 80 GB. It can give a tremendous capacity for data storage of up to 208 GB for the compressed versions of data. Moreover, it has been built with the R-MIC and there is a built in flash memory chip which allows operational data to be stored and provides quick and easy access to data.

AIT-3 tapes are very robust, reliable and cost efficient.High performance SDLT tapes, LTO tapes, DDS tapes, AIT tapes, RDX cartridges and Sony TAIT2-80N, AIT 2 turbo tapes are available at Odsi.co.uk, at low price. Dead on Facebook: Pranksters kill accounts with fake death reports

7 hrs.

While vacationing with his wife in Cancun, Rusty Foster did something many would find inexplicable?? he?didn?t check his Facebook account. Not once.?

But when the couple returned to their home in Peaks Island, Maine earlier this week, Foster?learned much to his surprise that he was dead???at least as far as Facebook was concerned.

?Everything seemed OK, but?I didn?t try to post anything until Thursday,? Foster told NBC News. Foster says he attempted to log on to his Facebook account, and got the ?pink box? instead???the one that reads:

This account is in a special memorial state. If you have any questions or concerns, please visit the Help Center for further information.

Turns out, while Foster was away, his prankster pal had him declared dead on Facebook, where it?s surprisingly easy to falsely memorialize an account. Since Facebook has no realtime customer service hotline,?getting one?s profile resurrected in this case?required outside intervention ... from BuzzFeed.?When Foster couldn't get Facebook's immediate attention, he wrote a note to the social news site asking for help.

How did BuzzFeed's intrepid reporter?Katie Notopoulos?help out? By turning around and Facebook murdering her colleague John Herrman, of course.

Being dead???at least on the Internet???is ?a little bit anticlimactic,? says Herrman. "I?ve been worrying about it?my whole my life and it turned out to just be a Facebook status update."?

Unbeknownst to him, Notopoulos had reported him dead for the purposes of investigating Foster's claims, not to mention the possibility of an awesomely annoying (and some might say, dark)?prank made possible by Facebook's service for the grieving.

When NBC News turned to Facebook to make sense of this apparently?slipshod policy, a spokesperson emailed the following statement:

We have designed the memorialization process to be effective for grieving families and friends, while still providing precautions to protect against either erroneous or malicious efforts to memorialize the account of someone who is not deceased.?We also provide an appeals process for the rare instances in which accounts are mistakenly reported or inadvertently memorialized.

Prior to 2009, Facebook users who sloughed off this mortal coil had the unfortunate habit of haunting the living???their pictures popping up on the profiles of their former friends, along with the friendly suggestion from Facebook that y?all should ?reconnect.? Four years into the network's existence, and with more than 300 million active users at the time, Facebook realized it had had its fair share of user fatalities, and the pile of creeped-out user?complaints that came with it.?

So the??Memorializing? function came into being, allowing loved ones to alert Facebook to their friends? passing and?preventing the social network from making potentially upsetting, wildly inappropriate suggestions. Any profile that has been?memorialized?is locked down: Only friends previously?approved by the deceased can even?view it, and personal information such as phone numbers are removed.?

Before contacting BuzzFeed, Foster had?attempted to?resuscitate?his profile by following?Facebook?s appeal process? ??filling out the online form titled ?My Personal Account is in a Special Memorialized State.? But he?wasn't?keen on killing time in social-media purgatory, and the automated reply Foster first received?didn't?inspire his confidence.??We are very sorry to hear about your loss,? it read, along with some reassurance that his report would be reviewed in according the site?s policies.

?Since I?couldn't?get on Facebook, I had a lot of time to kill on the Internet,? Foster said. ?So I Googled.? Foster says he?found more than a few search results about similarly pranked users who had difficulty getting the memorial status removed from their accounts, dating back to 2009. Finally, he sent his note to BuzzFeed.

Like Foster?s puckish friend, Notopoulos filled out a?memorialization?form for Herrman, and included ?proof of death? in the form of an online obit. For Rusty Foster, 36, who lives in Maine, his pal sent a link to the obit for a Russell Foster, 80, of Mississippi. Sure, the names more or less match, but the ages and places of residence do not.

For?BuzzFeed?s Herrman of New York, Notopoulous sent in an obit for John Herrmann of Nebraska, who, as Notopoulous noted ?is way older? than her coworker. In addition to the?age and geographic discrepancies, there's a small matter of the last names being spelled differently.

Like Foster, Herrman didn't know he was "dead" until he tried to access his account.?Herrman told NBC News that he attempted to log on, got that pink box telling him he was dead, filled out the form to get things fixed and received the same?perplexing ?sorry for your loss? automated response.

Yet less than an hour after Notopoulous? story ?How Almost Anyone Can Take You Off Facebook (And Lock You Out)? went live on BuzzFeed, Herrman?s account rose from the grave. Herrman also received another response that may very well be from a real human, which read:

It looks like your account was suspended by mistake. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. You should now be able to log in. If you have any issues getting back into your account, please let me know.

Foster, meanwhile, says he finds it interesting that Hermann, who was Facebook-dead days less than himself, got the Lazarus treatment before Foster. His own profile did get reinstated eventually?on Friday ? but without a cheerfully apologetic note.

The spookiest part of the social media ghost story, at least for Foster, wasn?t getting declared dead. It?s what he says happened after he created a second account in order to troubleshoot his problem.?He friended just one person, and almost immediately Facebook started suggesting he friend people who were linked to his ?dead? account. The thing is, these people are not Facebook friends with the new account's only?acquaintance; Facebook was digging deeper into its data?to reconnect Foster with his people.

?It?s weird how Facebook is so good about knowing things about you, but you find this one little hole where they pretend they don?t know you at all.?

There's no word itself?from Facebook?on precautions regarding pranks, but then again, it?s not like there are a lot of jerks on the Internet.

Helen A.S. Popkin?goes blah blah blah about the Internet. Tell her to get a real job on?Twitter?and/or?Facebook.?Also,?Google+.

(AP) ? As Oregon coach Chip Kelly was about to receive the massive Fiesta Bowl trophy, Ducks fans inside University of Phoenix Stadium started a chant of "We want Chip!"

Whether he returns or not is up in the air.

If Kelly does head to the NFL, this was a great send off.

Sparked by De'Anthony Thomas' 94-yard touchdown return on the opening kickoff, No. 5 Oregon turned the Fiesta Bowl into a track meet from the start and bolted past No. 7 Kansas State 35-17 Thursday night in what could be Kelly's final game with the Ducks.

"This wasn't going to be a distraction," Kelly said of reports that he was headed to the NFL. "It wasn't a distraction for me ? I think it's an honor. But I think it's an honor because of the players we have in this program that people want to talk to me."

Teams that had their national title aspirations end on the same day, Oregon and Kansas State ended up in the desert for a marquee matchup billed as a battle of styles: The fast-flying Ducks vs. the methodical Wildcats.

With Kelly reportedly talking to several NFL teams, Oregon (12-1) was too much for Kansas State and its Heisman Trophy finalist, Collin Klein, who were playing catch-up from the start.

Thomas followed his before-everyone-sat-down kickoff return with a 23-yard touchdown catch, finishing with 195 total yards.

Kenjon Barner ran for 143 yards on 31 carries and scored on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Marcus Mariota in the second quarter. Mariota later scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter, capped by an obscure 1-point safety that went in the Ducks' favor.

Even Oregon's defense got into the act, intercepting Klein twice and holding him to 30 yards on 13 carries.

"We got beat by a better team tonight, combined by the fact that we let down from time to time," coach Bill Snyder said after Kansas State's fifth straight bowl loss.

Last year's Fiesta Bowl was an offensive fiesta, with Oklahoma State outlasting Stanford 41-38 in overtime.

The 2013 version was an upgrade: Nos. 4 and 5 in the BCS, two of the nation's best offenses, dynamic players and superbly successful coaches on both sides.

Oregon has become the standard for go-go-go football under Kelly, its fleet of Ducks making those shiny helmets ? green like Christmas tree bulbs for the Fiesta Bowl ? and flashy uniforms blur across the grassy landscape.

Thomas offered the first flash of speed, picking up a couple of blocks and racing toward a not-so-photo finish at the line.

Thomas hit the Wildcats (11-2) again late in the first quarter, breaking a couple of tackles and dragging three defenders into the end zone for a catch-and-run TD that put the Ducks up 15-0.

It's nothing new for Oregon's sophomore sensation: He had 314 total yards and two long touchdown runs in the 2012 Rose Bowl. The Ducks are used to it, too, averaging more than 50 points per game.

And they kept flying.

Oregon followed a missed 40-yard field goal by Kansas State's Anthony Cantele by unleashing one of its blink-and-you'll-miss-it scoring drives late in the second quarter. Moving 77 yards in 46 seconds, the Ducks went up 22-10 at halftime after Mariota hit Barner on 24-yard TD pass.

Alejandro Maldonado hit a 33-yard field goal on Oregon's opening drive of the third quarter and Mariota capped a long drive with an easy 2-yard TD run to the left. Kansas State's Javonta Boyd blocked the point-after attempt, but even that went wrong for the Wildcats. Chris Harper was tackled in the end zone for a bizarre 1-point safety that put Oregon up 32-10.

It was the first 1-point safety in major college football since 2004 when Texas did it against Texas A&M, STATS said.

"There were so many things that could have changed the outcome of this game," Kansas State linebacker Arthur Brown said.

Kansas State needed a little time to get its wheels spinning on offense, laboring early before Klein scored on a 6-yard run early in the second quarter.

Klein kept the Wildcats moving in the quarter, though not toward touchdowns: Cantele hit a 25-yard field goal and missed from 40 after a false-start penalty.

Klein hit John Hubert on a 10-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter, but all that did was cut Oregon's lead to 32-17.

He threw for 151 yards on 17 of 32 passing.

"It wasn't really complicated," Kelly said of slowing Klein. "He's a great player, one of the greats of college football. I had my heart in my throat a couple of times watching him around, but our guys just made plays when they had to make plays."

By doing so, they may have put a nice exclamation point on Kelly's college career.

A New Year...A New You...A New Psychology? | Therapy That Works

While Positive Psychology is not exactly new (it?s been around for almost 15 years now, started by Martin Seligman, in 1998, during his APA presidency), it is still considered new to the field of psychology.? It is a new perspective on mental health that research is demonstrating, can lead to ?a new you.?

Now, will you wake up singing like Beyonc? or swimming like Michael Phelps?? Well, no, but research shows that it will make you happier.? In fact, Positive Psychology has been referred to as the ?Science of Happiness.?? The key difference between Positive Psychology and Self-help or Pop Psychology is its grounding in research. It is considered an evidence-based treatment.

So, what is Positive Psychology?

Positive Psychology is essentially the study of what is right, instead of what is wrong.? Where the main focus of traditional psychology has been on pathology, sickness, and the ?negative outliers,? what?s abnormal; Positive Psychology focuses on health, wellness, success, and happiness or in other words the ?positive outliers,? those that are functioning at the top of the curve.

Positive Psychology is interested in studying those people who are functioning best, so that we can learn from them and how to apply their skills and strategies in order to increase our own functioning.? Positive Psychology is about studying what we want to replicate, not what we want to deter or avoid.? It focuses on the positive of life and has created real world strategies to be implemented into our everyday ways of being to improve the quality of our life.

?Does this mean that Positive Psychology just ignores the negative, the down-side of life??

?Isn?t this just a Pollyana way of living??? Well, the answer is no.? Positive Psychology does not pretend that negative emotions or experiences do not exist.? It does not ignore them or say you should just look on the bright-side.? The point of Positive Psychology is balance.

As a field, we have spent so much time looking at what?s wrong; we need to also look at what?s right.?? A Positive Psychologist won?t ignore your pain or depression, but instead will also ask, when/where do you still feel joy, peace, and contentment and then look for ways that you can create that in other areas of your life.? Behavioral Psychologists have always known that what we put our attention on grows.? If you want a behavior to increase, pay attention to it, reward it even, and if you want it to decrease, ignore it.? It?s the same idea.? Put your attention on what?s positive, what?s working, and you will watch it grow.

So what does this mean for you?

You can start implementing Positive Psychology strategies right away, for yourself or with others, to improve one?s quality of life.? One such strategy started by Seligman himself and based on his research, is to write down 3 things each day that you are grateful for (3 good things).? A little tip here is to make sure when you do this exercise, be sure that it comes from your heart and not your head, its effects are greater when you really mean it.

Other strategies may include, evaluating your daily and weekly activities and finding ways to sneak in some positivity.? Do you love your morning latte??? Well, then, savor it.? Do you love walking the dog?? Make sure to make time for it.? Whatever brings happiness and joy into your life, make a conscious decision to do more of it, even if it?s only for 5 minutes.? Just putting your attention on what makes you feel good, will make you feel good.?? As Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar says, ?Appreciation, appreciates.?

How else can you experience more positivity in your life?? Take care of yourself!? These are known as positivity enablers because they allow us to soak in the benefits of our positive experiences.? They are things like, proper rest, proper exercise, and proper nutrition.

So, in short, as we begin a new year, look at your life, see what is right now and act on it, create more of it, and celebrate all that is working well for you.

Many Blessings in the New Year,

Sandy Hook students resume classes for first time since school shooting

A sign welcoming Sandy Hook students underneath one pointing to Chalk Hill School. (Dylan Stableford)

MONROE, Conn.--Sandy Hook School students--many accompanied by their parents--resumed classes at a retrofitted school here on a bitterly cold Thursday morning, less than a month after a gunman opened fire at their elementary school in Newtown, killing 20 children and 6 adults, including principal Dawn Hochsprung, in one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history.

Buses began arriving around 8:30 a.m. at Chalk Hill School, seven miles away from their former home in Sandy Hook. The snowy roads leading to the former middle school were lined with balloons, green and white ribbons--the school's colors--and signs welcoming the kids back. "Work Hard," one sign affixed to a tree read. "Get Smart. Have Fun," read another.

About a dozen police cruisers were parked the entrance to the school and officers braved the 13-degree temperatures to direct school traffic, but Monroe Police Lt. Keith White told reporters on Wednesday that uniformed police presence inside would be toned down to allow a sense of normalcy.

Volunteers spent several weeks moving furniture from Sandy Hook School to the new facility, as school officials tried to completely re-create classrooms in an effort to make students as comfortable as possible--right down, they said, to the way crayons were left on their desks.

And Newtown Schools Superintendent Janet Robinson announced on Wednesday that Chalk Hill would be renamed Sandy Hook Elementary.

?The students coming in completes the circle,? Robinson said. "That's what's missing right now--getting our students back."

"Schools are where children typically spend the largest part of their day," Robinson wrote in a separate letter to parents. "Re-establishing routines following any disaster has been found to promote resiliency while also reducing the negative effects of a tragedy like that which occurred in our school. We all find safety and predictability in our routines and children are no different."

[Slideshow: Scenes from Newtown, Connecticut]

Parents were encouraged to attend school with their children on Thursday, though not ride with them on buses.

"I want to reassure you that we understand many parents may need to be near their children on their first day(s) of school and you will be welcome," interim principal Donna Page wrote in a letter to parents. "That being said, we encourage students to take the bus to school in order to help them return to familiar routines as soon as possible. Parents choosing to join their children may come to school after our 9:07 a.m. opening and will be welcome in the classroom or the auditorium throughout the day."

A note on the school's website warned that parking for parents "may pose some challenges" and that shuttle buses would be provided from an overflow lot at a nearby church.

To "ensure a safe and secure environment," Page continued, "we ask that no more than one adult family member accompany his/her child."

New security systems were installed at the former middle school in the wake of the shooting. Earlier this week, Newtown Councilman Steve Vavrek said Chalk Hill would be "the safest school in America."

Other public schools in Newtown reopened within a week of the shootings, but Sandy Hook Elementary has remained closed since Dec. 14, when 20-year-old gunman Adam Lanza shot his way into the school and opened fire before turning a gun on himself. Lanza also killed his mother in their Newtown home before going on the rampage.

"I want parents and families enduring the loss of their precious children to know their loved ones are foremost in our hearts and minds as we move forward," Page also wrote. "We recognize your needs are paramount in our preparations and planning. Your strength and compassion has been and will continue to be an inspiration to me and countless others as we work to honor the memory of your precious children and our beloved staff."
