The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and San Diego area police shut down a crime network of Iraqis with reported ties to the Chaldean Organized Crime Syndicate, the Sinaloa Cartel and the Mexican Mafia.
"Operation Shadowbox", a six-month undercover investigation, led to confiscations of 3,500 pounds of marijuana, meth, cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, Vicodin, Oxycontin, Codeine, Xanex, Percocet, machine guns, semi-automatic assault rifles, explosives and $638,000 in cash.
Police are tracking a list of criminal suspects and expect to soon make additional arrests in California.
