IT Security Blog. Mitigating Risks. Enabling Business Strategies. W ...

I?ve been at EMC World all this week in Las Vegas, May 21-24.? As an Information Security practitioner, I love it when I see and hear CEOs, VPs, and Business Unit heads, naturally weave security into their presentations and talks, just like any other fundamental element of delivering effective information solutions.? I saw this routinely from industry leaders all this week at EMC World.

Picture1Yesterday, I watched a great discussion between EMC?s CISO, Dave Martin, and EMC?s CIO Sanjay Mirchandani, where they exchanged ideas and innovative approaches to deploying EMC?s own internal IT applications securely to mobile devices.? It was one of many examples I saw, where it was clear that organizations are increasingly viewing Information Security strategies as a fundamental element in delivering information solutions and business value.

That said, certainly Information Security remains for most organizations a necessary evil and often considered so late in the game, that security has to be bolted on or worse, traded off at the last minute in an uninformed manner.? Often this is due to the fact that most organizations, don?t have a formal Information Security Management System, which I will talk about in a future blog.? However, this week's conference certainly gives me a good sense of optimism that business leaders are beginning?to?truly appreciate that Information?Security is critical to their business strategies and solutions.
