The purpose of this article is to interest the reader to watch the movie and formulate their own opinions not to argue for or against steroid usage.

?Bigger, Stronger, Faster? is a 2008 documentary film about performance enhancing drugs, especially anabolic steroids. Chris Bell wrote and starred in the documentary, officially titled, ?Bigger, Stronger, Faster. The side effect of being American.?

Mr. Bell interviews numerous athletes, trainers, doctors, musicians and pilots to help him solve his moral dilemmas, ?Is using steroids cheating and should I use them like my two brothers do?? He attempts to stay neutral while speaking to both sides of the steroid argument.

Bell documents his upbringing as the short, fat, middle son of overweight parents. He and his brothers grew up worshipping Hulk Hogan, Sly Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Heavily influenced by 1980?s professional wrestling, the Bell brothers dreamed of becoming wrestling superstars. Bell shows that one Christmas he received the Hulk-a-Mania workout set. Bell explains he was devastated when he learned his childhood heroes admitted to steroid use.

?Bigger, Stronger, Faster? follows Chris Bell and his two brothers as adults. Chris admits to steroid usage for a short time period to help him in the sport of powerlifting. He stopped using because he felt guilty.

Chris? older brother, nicknamed Mad Dog who is in his late thirties, continues to chase his childhood dream of being a WWE wrestler. Mad Dog was a college football player when he began using steroids. Mad Dog states, ?It was no decision at all? to start taking them. He has used anabolic steroids on and off since then. Mad Dog left college football to pursue his dream of becoming a wrestler. He worked as a ?jobber? in the then called WWF but never became a star. He now teaches at a professional wrestling school and wrestles in small independent shows.

Chris? younger brother, nicknamed Smelly, started using anabolic steroids to ?Get bigger? in his pursuit of becoming a professional wrestler. Smelly now an assistant high school football coach, competes in powerlifing contests. He continues using steroids ?on and off? to achieve his dream/goal of bench pressing 700 pounds in competition.

Chris Bell works hard in his attempt to answer his moral questions. ?Bigger, Stronger, Faster? provides a platform for proponents and opponents of performance enhancing drugs to speak their mind. Athletes who tested positive and stripped of their titles are asked about their experiences. Bodybuilders, powerlifters and steroid users of various ages and goals voice their opinions.

View this fascinating documentary and formulate your own opinions. Try not to be shocked when learning the mindset of steroid users. Educate yourself on how anabolic steroids work. Learn the short term and long term side-effects of their usage. No matter what your position on performance enhancing drugs you will find this movie interesting.
