Apartment List Uses Your Personal Preferences to Find You a New Home [Webapps]

Apartment List Uses Your Personal Preferences to Find You a New Home Apartment hunting can be a pain, but new service Apartment List uses your answers to specific questions and information from your Facebook profile to help narrow your search to apartments you'll actually like.

The service presents you with a top-down map and asks you where you're interested in living. Search results are plotted on the map, much like they are with previously mentioned Padmapper. The difference is that Apartment List tries to highlight rentals that it thinks you'll be most interested in, and minimizes the others until you click on them.

It's difficult at first glance to see why Apartment List wants to connect to your Facebook profile, or why the service wants to know what your favorite type of French fry is, but the information is used to help you narrow your apartment search. Your choice in French fries will help the service decide if you should be closer to fast food restaurants or gastropubs, and if your Facebook profile notes you love running and biking, you'll get rentals closer to parks and green spaces.

Apartment List is free to use and currently in beta-keep that in mind when you use it, it might be a little slow. What do you think? Will this replace Padmapper for you, or will it more likely be a companion tool in your apartment search toolkit? Share your thoughts in the comments.
