More than 30 Groton-area business leaders recieved a person-to-person update on one of the region?s largestsummer-tourism activities at a networking event at the Groton Branch of Chelsea Groton Bank.
John Johnson, Chairman of ?OpSail2012CT, reviewed OpSail?s extensive planning and fund-raising initiatives. The July 6-9 weekend of activities will feature dozens of Thames River and harbor events including tall-ship visits. The traditional fireworks display will be on the Saturday evening of July 7. OpSail has combined with SailFest ? a celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the War of 1812 ? to cover New London?s Downtown, Fort Trumbull, and State Pier areas.
Chelsea Groton Bank President and CEO Michael Rauh welcomed the leaders to the February 17 business gathering, and discussed the 157-year-old bank?s ongoing commitment to the community.
The Groton Business Association (GBA)?promotes businesses in the Groton area. The GBA is a division of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce. Chelsea Groton Bank?is a mutually owned bank with 14 locations throughout New London County.
