Is it really necessary to pay for cable TV anymore? You have to think the cable companies are worrying about their futures as just about everything seems to be moving online.
If you want to watch movies online, you?ll have an easy time finding them. From Netflix to Epix and iTunes, there are a ton of ways to enjoy films from your computer or handheld devices these days. Since it?s so easy to see movies this way, everyone from Blockbuster Video to HBO is feeling the pain.
Some people are even passing up paid TV altogether and choosing to watch it on their computers, or even stream it straight to their TV sets. When options such as Satellite Direct exist, it?s not such a hard decision to make. Viewers can easily see the same TV shows they?re used to watching, without paying monthly subscriptions.
When it comes to music videos, MTV has just about surrendered its presence in this category, all due to the dominance of Youtube when it comes to things like these. Videos can be watched whenever viewers want, and more popular ones typically accumulate millions of views.
You?re more likely to see The Real World, Jersey Shore, or some other kind of reality TV on the channel. This is all due to the fact that people have chosen to watch their music videos online as well.
Our guess is that things will continue to move in the online direction. The providers of ordinary television programming would be wise to build the strongest online presence they possibly can, or before they know it they?ll end up suffering from the same future that so many print media companies have.
